FREE SUPPORT SERVICES & PROGRAMS FOR BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS & THEIR FAMILIES

At last, women who have had surgery as a result of breast cancer, can now have the cost of their prostheses fully refunded by the Medicare External Breast Prostheses Reimbursement Program effective 1st July 2008.

This now means all women who are permanent residents of Australia, have a current Medicare entitlement and had full or partial mastectomies, can be reassured knowing that every two years, up to $400 can be paid for each prosthesis.

Where a woman has had bilateral mastectomies, (even if one was elective)and depending on the cost of the prosthesis, they are able to purchase two prostheses.

This new Australian Government initiative, is a huge step forward in maintaining a womans ' confidence after breast surgery. We, at BreastCare wa, are also committed to supporting women by offering a FREE community home and hospital fitting service to all clients within the metropolitan area, or for those clients wishing to come to us, we have a private suite in Burswood. Country clients can have confidence when ordering by phone, email or via our website, as we have a successful mail order service.

Our FREE service is one of many that are available to women in the community who have had Breast Cancer and we work closely with many agencies and services to ensure women are kept up to date on what is available to them.

BreastCare WA proudly supports Breast Cancer Care WA, and is a registered provider to the Medicare External Breast Prostheses Reimbursement Program, ALL major Health Funds and Veteran's Affairs.
