Garments vary depending on the area of the body involved, surgeon’s preferences and the transition from hospital to home.
For example, a compression bra is needed for a Lat Dorsi that involves the upper chest and back while a binder and compression bra are needed for a DIEP where the abdomen and upper chest are involved.
Immediately after surgery, a binder is easier to fit around drains, adjust as swelling reduces and use when toileting. When more mobile, shapewear or a girdle can be more comfortable and easier to wear under clothing.
Before purchasing, please confirm your surgeon’s garment preference.

After sutures are removed and skin fully closes, 100% medical grade silicone ointment and sheets act as a protective barrier over scars, reducing water evaporation and helping stop excessive scar tissue build-up.
Band and strap clips allow a compression bra to be adjusted as breast swelling changes.
A binder can be easier to manage, but the surgeon may prefer a girdle with legs to reduce thigh swelling.
When more mobile, shapewear can be more discreet under clothes.
A compression bra holds the tissue expander in position and allows it to be expanded. Since swelling is less likely, a zip fastener can be easier to use if there is finger numbness.
When the implants are inserted, the bra helps to hold the implant in place and shape the breast.
A compression bra with lower breast area compression can reduce fat displacement whilst also helping to shape and support the breast.
The compression garment usually extends beyond the area of liposuction . Check with your surgeon if the fastener is over the area of liposuction.
Compression bras with band and strap clips can be adjusted for better comfort as breast swelling changes.
Closed crotch compression garments reduce bottom of buttock or top of thigh scarring aggravation because they do not have crotch seamsfound on open crotch garments.
A compression bra with a wide underarm band and wide reinforced back can support recovery.
The cups support the breasts, the wider side band helps reduce underarm swelling and soreness and the wider back with increased compression supports the upper back.
Compression bras with band and strap clips can be adjusted as breast swelling changes.
A compression garment with cover to above the knee can support the incision area and provide the firm and even pressure that aids healing and improves mobility.
